Link Love – Still Tree May 24, 2010

Once in awhile you find something rare & special on Etsy. The Still Tree boutique is so fun, fresh & unique.  I know Sal, who is the creative mind behind the shop, through Twitter and have become a huge fan of hers. Not only does she call her ‘Mom’ Mum (LOVE IT!) but she’s well traveled and loves using color in her designs. Pssttt… Sal… have you heard of the Crafting in Color Street team??

Here’s her inspired bio:

“I’ve loved making things from an early age when my Mum taught me dress-making and how to knit and have always had little projects on the go, but Still Tree actually came about from a baking hot afternoon in the Northern Thai mountains and a bumpy trip on the back of a moped… My boyfriend and I were exploring some paddy fields and as we came along a dirt track in the middle of nowhere I noticed loads of beautiful iridescent blue feathers littering the road. They came from an Indian Roller bird, who had clearly met its match with another animal. I spent a while collecting them and on cleaning them when we got home I realised they would make for stunning earrings. And so came Still Tree. Etsy’s the perfect market place as it enables us to run a business from anywhere in the world. We’re back in the UK for the moment and have been trading for just over a year and we’re growing well; we’re not just about the feather earrings now either, we make lots of other jewellery, accessories and home-wares and have a great new product line on the way, which should be released in the next month or so, so keep a look out for exciting things!”

I can’t wait to see what you are up to!

In today’s edition of Link Love I’m going to introduce you to the fabulous gift giving shop of Jenni 20 Designs. I first was introduced to Jenni last summer via Twitter, she is one of the sweetest girls on my ‘crafty’ user list.  She is super crafty and sells items we all use, in attractive fabrics. Reading her profile bio I almost felt like I was reading my own, at first, minus the poodle (mine is a Heinz 57 special) and my couch is not vintage, just weathered:

“Jenni20 started sewing and crafting in the 80s under the tutelage of her fabulously talented mother. When she’s not dreaming up some new project, Jenni either works tirelessly on adding to her fabric stash, hanging out on her vintage couch with her poodle, reading anything in print…or doing all three simultaneously!”

Take a look around her shop and find some eco-friendly items, some vintage finds and some passport covers that will add a little spice to your travel.

Any lover of fabric is a friend of mine!

Link Love – The Crafty Housewives May 8, 2010

I love making connections online – recently I came across a jewelry shop located in Quebec through Etsy. I added it to my favorites and even sent out a tweet about one of her lovely bracelets. Unknown to me she had actually sent me a message asking me for a little information, she had originally seen me on Icraft. Small world this crafty community!

Here’s a little bit about Maika – she lives in St. Jerome, Quebec. Do you know where that is? It’s about a half hour North from Montreal depending on traffic, and just a quick jaunt from some of Quebec’s most famous ski hills! What a beautiful, inspiring area to work in.  She loves crafting and excited to now be home creating her own designs and working with some of her favorite materials such as: stones, shell and wood. She loves challenging her self with new materials, techniques  and loves making one-of-a-kind designs and even better – CUSTOM!

I’d love for you to take a minute to check out this new Etsienne’s shop and some of her beautiful items.

Tara xoxo

Link Love – Crafting in Color Street Team May 1, 2010

As a seller on a few different venues I have the wonderful experience of being a part of some excellent teams. Today I want to share with you the Crafting in Color Etsy team.  This team boasts of bringing some color to the Etsy world (which is sometimes quite taupe). Monthly we have a theme challenge, we support each other through tweets, Facebook, a google group and other fun ways (last week we had a mini Treasury East challenge). Our blog now has just shy of 300 followers (and that isn’t counting people who regularly stop by). I love this team and enjoy all the connections I’ve made with the members. With this team I feel I’ve found a great supportive base and love promoting all their gorgeous items.

Do you craft in color? Maybe you should stop by and look into becoming a member!

Are you a lover of all things handmade and love a splash of color? Stop by and see what the team has to offer and while you are at it maybe vote in one of our challenges (my stuff is BoutiqueKarma *Wink*)

Here’s a glimpse of what the CIC team (crafting in color) has on their blog:

Crafting in Color Wheel - April 30th 2010

Treasury East Challenge - Voting ends Tuesday May 4th. Winner wins bragging rights!

May Theme Challenge - Pets! All team members are welcome to submit an entry into the contest. Winners win an Etsy mini on the sidebar for the month of June.

Today I’m going to introduce you to Jennifer of CraftyBabyHope the designer and creative girl behind the items in her store on Artfire, where her slogan is ‘Jewelry for Hope, Hope for the Future’.  She has always loved crafts and creating new things since she was a small child. She enjoys working with her hands, learning new things and l loves working with wire and polymer clay. There are not many artists that I’ve come across who create items who have such touching causes. Her cause is something very special and touching – they go towards infertility treatments.

Here’s a little bit of her story:

“I live in Arizona and it gets SUPER hot in the summer. So hot that I stay indoors until the sun goes down.LOL I grew up in Mississippi where I met my wonderful husband. Shortly after we got married we moved to Sunny Arizona. After 5 years of marriage we had our wonderful son. When my son was 5 years old we started trying for another child. After 4 miscarriages we are still trying desperately to expand our family. I have been diagnosed with secondary infertility as well as MTHFR, PCOS, Endometriosis and hypothyroidism. My husband and I are going on 15 years of marriage. I am 34 years old going on 35 so time is running out. My hope is to be able to raise enough money from my studio sales to pay for at least one round of IVF (in-vitro fertilization).”

Please stop by her shop and see all the wonderful things she has for sale:

Link Love – VaBeachQuilter April 17, 2010

You have to love Kim of VaBeachQuilter, she is the guild master of the Artfire guild ‘Shops With Less Than (10) Sales,’ she runs a blog of the same name and tirelessly promotes members from this team via twitter, blogging, chatterbox threads, facebook fan page and various other means of promotion. She helps our smaller shops by pointing out ways that we may have overlooked to help get traffic come to our shops.

Aside from guild master and mentor she is also a brilliant quilter and business woman. She has sold a number of quilts for local MLB players and their family and even sold a custom quilt that was mentioned in an article by Seth Livingstone, a reporter for USA Today.

She lives her craft by working and teaching in a local Quilt shop. She’s been machine quilting for 10 years now, predominantly machine piecing, but she does some hand piecing as well.  Her items are all gorgeous, and let me tell you, there is NOTHING like snuggling up with a quilt while watching your favorite tv show or even better (if you are lucky enough) to sleep under one at night. As the daughter of a quilter, I can really appreciate all the hard work that goes into one.

Kim a wide assortment of other items:  table runners, notekeepers, wallets, gift/business card cases, hand-pieced wool items, baby/toddler items, and so much more. I just love her adorable VeeBee Creatures.

Here’s a selection of some of the goodies you will find in her shop – please stop by and show her some link love!

This fabulous Saturday morning I’d like to introduce to you a cute shop found on Artfire – jYOUlry, so pull up your cup of coffee and settle in. Our featured shop jYOUlry is a lovely boutique selling beautiful jewelry that you as the customer can add your own sentimental pictures to. This way you can carry your love ones with you at all times.  Her items are a fabulous gift idea for Mother’s day (don’t forget this is j-u-s-t around the corner).

I just love her shop name – such a cute way to bring the YOU into your jewelry.

Here’s a little bit about our artist:

Lisa is a WAHM (work at home mom), and interior designer who recently relocated to Panama from Florida. She works late into the evening after her children go to sleep (sounds familiar, that’s when I get my work done too). Her jewelry has become a creative outlet since her relocation and I think she has found a very unique item. Her idea was born and inspired by a piece of jewelry she had bought with a photo of her two children, later when she had inquired of ordering a new one the manufacturer was no longer making them.  She felt a need in the market and then created her own creative line of jewelry with unique pieces.

All of her items are quality goods at the perfect price. Each item has your photo permanently sealed into the item of your choice with a water & scratch resistant resin.

Are you a wholesaler looking for something unique, a photographer looking for something special to give with your work or a jewelry designer wanting a special pendant for your custom necklaces? Lisa also sells her silver collection wholesale! You could also be a reseller if you are interested, you just put together the sale and photograph and she’ll send the product to you to distribute to your personal customers.

Please take a moment to check out a small selection picked by me from jYOUrly:
